This project is for monitoring green cover along the National Highways using IRS Satellite data. NHAI and NRSC collaborated to develop a robust and reliable mechanism for monitoring of green cover and accordingly classifying the National Highways based on GCI values. The Index will be generated for each package of National Highways with separate statistics computed for Avenue green cover (Left-Hand Side and Right-Hand Side) and Median green cover (where ever feasible) at a fine interval of 1 km Chainage. This facility helps NHAI to work towards its mandate of maintaining adequate green cover along National Highways and enforce targeted interventions where improvements are needed.
